About Metal Slug 2

Metal Slug 2 is a classic arcade run-and-gun shooter developed by SNK and released in 1998 for the Neo Geo arcade system. Building on the original game, this sequel expands the scale of combat with larger stages, more playable characters, stranger enemies, and even more chaotic action.

The game follows the Peregrine Falcon Squad as they battle General Morden’s forces once again, but the conflict gradually shifts into something far more unusual involving futuristic weapons, giant machines, and alien threats. This mix of military action and over-the-top sci-fi elements became one of the defining traits of the series.

Metal Slug 2 is especially remembered for its detailed pixel animation and creative stage design. Desert battles, underwater combat, zombie-like transformations, and massive mechanical bosses all appear throughout the adventure, giving each mission a very different feel from the last.

The game also introduced new characters, including Eri and Fio, alongside Marco and Tarma from the original game. Combined with its co-op arcade gameplay and nonstop action, Metal Slug 2 became one of the most iconic entries in the series.

How To Play

In Metal Slug 2, players fight through intense side-scrolling arcade shooting stages filled with soldiers, vehicles, traps, and giant bosses.

Players can run, jump, crouch, fire in multiple directions, and throw grenades while pushing through enemy-heavy levels. Fast movement and careful positioning are important, since enemy attacks can quickly overwhelm the screen.

Throughout missions, players collect different weapons such as heavy machine guns, laser cannons, rocket launchers, and flamethrowers. Each weapon changes combat rhythm and is useful against different enemy groups or bosses.

The game also introduces special transformations during certain stages. Characters can become overweight from eating too much food, changing movement speed but increasing weapon power, while other sections feature unusual effects tied to the game’s sci-fi themes.

Vehicles like the Metal Slug tank return with stronger firepower and added mobility. Boss battles are larger and more chaotic than before, often filling the screen with explosions and projectile attacks that require quick reactions and constant movement to survive.
