Metal Slug Games first appeared in arcades in 1996 on SNK’s Neo Geo hardware and quickly became famous for their fast run-and-gun gameplay, detailed pixel art, and nonstop action. The Metal Slug vehicles themselves are one of the series’ most recognizable features. Tanks, submarines, flying machines, and armored walkers appear throughout different stages, often turning normal combat sections into full-scale destruction sequences. The games also constantly surprise players with strange transformations, hidden prisoners, alternate routes, and over-the-top boss battles.
