About Donkey Kong 64
Donkey Kong 64 is a 3D platform adventure developed by Rare and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. The game follows Donkey Kong and the rest of the Kong family as they try to stop King K. Rool from destroying DK Island with his giant mechanical weapon. Unlike the earlier side-scrolling Donkey Kong games, this entry focuses heavily on open-level exploration, puzzle-solving, and collectible hunting.
Players can control five different Kongs during the adventure: Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong. Each character has unique abilities that are required to access certain areas and complete puzzles. Some stages need Tiny Kong’s shrinking ability, while others depend on Chunky Kong’s strength or Diddy Kong’s speed and jetpack skills.
The game features large levels filled with hidden paths, bonus rooms, mini-games, moving platforms, enemies, and collectibles. Players travel through jungles, factories, caves, pirate ships, snowy mountains, and ancient ruins while searching for Golden Bananas and other important items. Exploration plays a major role, and many secrets can only be unlocked after returning with new abilities later in the game.

How To Play
In Donkey Kong 64, players explore large 3D stages while collecting items needed to unlock new worlds and progress through the story. Movement includes running, jumping, climbing, swimming, and using barrel cannons to cross gaps or reach hidden areas.
Each Kong has different abilities and weapons. Donkey Kong can activate heavy switches, Diddy Kong uses a jetpack for aerial movement, Tiny Kong can shrink into small spaces, Lanky Kong uses stretchy moves to solve puzzles, and Chunky Kong can move heavy objects and break obstacles. Switching between characters is important because many collectibles and stage objectives are tied to specific Kongs.
Levels contain platforming challenges, enemy encounters, hidden bonus areas, and timed puzzles. Players also collect coins to unlock new moves, weapons, and musical instrument attacks. Some sections focus on mine cart rides, underwater exploration, or target-based mini-games that change the gameplay style.
Boss fights usually require using movement and character abilities instead of simple attacks. As players unlock more skills, earlier levels can be revisited to discover hidden collectibles and secret routes that were previously unreachable.
