About Kirby: Canvas Curse

Kirby: Canvas Curse is a unique platformer game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, released in 2005 exclusively for the Nintendo DS. Unlike traditional Kirby titles, this game embraces the DS’s touchscreen capabilities, transforming the way players interact with the world of Dream Land. The story follows Kirby as he’s cursed and transformed into a ball, stripped of his usual ability to fly. Players must guide him through colorful and dynamic stages to stop the evil magician Drawcia and restore peace to Dream Land. The game is praised for its inventive control scheme, vibrant graphics, and engaging level design, offering a fresh take on the Kirby series while staying true to its whimsical charm.

How To Play

In Kirby: Canvas Curse, players control Kirby entirely through the touchscreen. Rather than moving him directly with buttons, you draw rainbow paths to roll him through each stage. The paths act as rails, allowing Kirby to gain speed, avoid hazards, and navigate tricky terrain. Enemies can be defeated by tapping them directly with the stylus or by guiding Kirby into them along drawn paths. Boss fights are more interactive, often requiring strategic use of drawn routes combined with timed attacks. Along the way, players collect stars and hidden items that unlock extra challenges and power-ups. This version’s unique mechanic of touchscreen drawing adds a puzzle-like layer to the platforming experience, making each level feel fresh and inventive. Mastering the paths and timing your moves is key to progressing through the increasingly complex stages.
