WWF WrestleMania Challenge is a professional wrestling game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1990. Developed by Rare and published by LJN, it builds on the original WWF WrestleMania while expanding the roster, improving match mechanics, and offering a more complete wrestling experience. Rather than simply updating the previous game, it introduces new wrestlers and smoother gameplay that better captures the energy of late-1980s and early-1990s WWF television.
Players can choose from ten WWF Superstars, including Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, André the Giant, Rick Rude, Big Boss Man, Brutus Beefcake, Ravishing Rick Rude, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and others from one of wrestling's most memorable eras. How To Play
Choose your favorite WWF Superstar and enter a variety of match types against either the computer or another player. Each wrestler has different animations and a unique finishing move, so learning when to execute that signature attack is one of the keys to winning matches.
Most matches revolve around landing strikes, performing grapples, and avoiding your opponent's counterattacks until you've created the perfect opening. Once enough momentum has been built, you can attempt a finishing move to put your opponent away. Positioning and timing matter much more than simply attacking nonstop.
One of the biggest additions in this version is the Survivor Series elimination mode. Instead of controlling a single wrestler for one match, you'll lead a team through a series of eliminations, switching to the next superstar whenever a teammate is defeated. This mode rewards consistency across multiple matches and adds a layer of strategy not found in the original game.
Tag team matches also change the pace by allowing partners to share the workload, making it important to control the ring and avoid taking unnecessary damage.
